About Me
A Journey of Discovery
I was born in Trinidad and Tobago to Jamaican parents and raised in Canada from the age of 6. My roots are deeply intertwined with rich cultural heritage and traditions. After pursuing my passion for education in Toronto, I spent 15 transformative years in the United Kingdom as a dedicated primary school teacher and expert in Special Educational Needs (SEN). My years as an educator taught me the power of empathy, patience, and adaptability in creating inclusive learning environments where every individual feels valued and supported.
From the Classroom to the Mat
It was during my time in the UK that I discovered the transformative power of yoga and how it can be used as a tool for holistic well-being and inclusivity. Driven by my love of teaching and commitment to fostering an inclusive environment, I embarked on a journey to share the gift of yoga with others. As a certified yoga instructor, I bring my diverse background and experience in education infused with warmth, compassion, and an understanding of individual needs to my classes. My teaching style is grounded in principles of accessibility and self-acceptance, celebrating the uniqueness of every individual and empowering students of all abilities and backgrounds to find strength, balance, and inner peace on the mat.
Embracing Every Body
My mission is simple: to create a space where every body feels welcome, valued, and empowered to explore the transformative potential of yoga. As a black woman who defies conventional yoga stereotypes, I want to serve as a representation for individuals who may not see themselves reflected in mainstream yoga culture. I believe that yoga is not about conforming to a particular body type or achieving perfection in poses, but rather about cultivating self-awareness, inner strength, and a deep connection to oneself and others. I am inviting all my students to embrace their unique journey and celebrate the beauty of diversity in all its forms.
